MechSure Help Center
What can we help you with?
Step-by-step answers for reviews, reports, My Garage, Service Passport, and account questions.
Submitting a review
How MechSure worksUpload the shop’s paperwork for a document-based second opinion before or after repairs.
- 1Choose Estimate Review before approving work, or Final Invoice Review after receiving the completed bill.
- 2Enter the requested vehicle and shop information.
- 3Upload all pages and available inspection photos from the same repair visit.
- 4Check My Garage and your email for information requests and the completed report.
Good to know
- MechSure does not physically inspect, test, diagnose, or repair the vehicle.
- Urgent safety concerns require an in-person inspection.
What documents and photos should I upload?Complete, readable paperwork produces the most useful review.
- 1Upload the estimate or final invoice as a PDF, JPEG, PNG, or WebP file.
- 2Include every page, digital inspection reports, technician notes, recommendations, and parts or labor breakdowns.
- 3Add clear photos supplied by the shop when they support a recommendation.
- 4When available, enter the engine, drivetrain, ZIP code, shop labor rate, and the shop’s explanation.
Good to know
- Do not upload passwords, Social Security numbers, or full payment-card numbers.
- Blurry, cropped, handwritten, or missing pages may require follow-up.
Estimate Review vs. Final Invoice ReviewChoose based on whether you are deciding what to approve or checking completed work.
- 1Estimate Review focuses on proposed work, price structure, possible overlap, priorities, and questions for the shop.
- 2Final Invoice Review checks completed billed work against the submitted documents.
- 3Labor Review ($24.99) covers labor, possible overlap, priorities, and document structure; parts prices are not independently researched.
- 4Full Review + Parts ($44.99) adds parts-price research and parts-related questions.
Good to know
- A related final invoice may be added from My Garage after a MechSure estimate review.
- The 3-hour Rush option appears only when Rush service is available.
Answering an additional-information requestA reviewer may pause when a page, vehicle detail, shop explanation, or clearer image is needed.
- 1Open the request from its email link or the review in My Garage.
- 2Read each requested item.
- 3Enter the explanation and attach the missing or clearer files.
- 4Submit once; the review returns to the queue with the new information.
Good to know
- Use the request screen so information stays connected to the correct case.
- If the link fails, contact Review Support with the review or order number.
Understanding your report
How to read a completed reportStart with the overall summary, then review each individual finding.
- 1Read the headline and overall summary.
- 2Check totals and counts for labor, parts, and possible overlap.
- 3Open each finding for the submitted charge, explanation, and suggested question.
- 4Use the questions as a conversation guide with the repair facility.
- 5Add work to Service Passport only after it is completed.
Good to know
- The report reflects only the information available at review time.
- A pricing concern does not automatically mean the shop acted improperly.
Labor, parts, overlap, and repair prioritiesDifferent finding types help you understand the estimate without treating every concern the same.
- 1Labor examines the quoted or billed labor structure and whether time appears high or unclear.
- 2Parts research is included in Full Review + Parts. Unidentified parts may be marked not independently verified.
- 3Possible overlap identifies jobs that may share access steps; it is a question to clarify, not an automatic deduction.
- 4Priority organizes recommendations by urgency, but does not guarantee the vehicle is safe to drive.
- 5Questions to ask help confirm diagnosis, scope, pricing, parts, or shared labor with the shop.
My Garage & Service Passport
Using My GarageKeep each vehicle’s reviews, documents, and completed service history together.
- 1Sign in and select a vehicle.
- 2Use Estimates & Reviews for requests and completed reports.
- 3Use Documents for insurance, registration, warranty, inspection, and other records.
- 4Use Service Passport for completed maintenance and repairs.
- 5Update mileage so the history remains useful.
Good to know
- The free account currently supports up to two active vehicles.
- Read confirmations carefully before removing a vehicle or deleting data.
Adding work to Service PassportService Passport records work that was actually completed, not recommendations still on an estimate.
- 1Open the vehicle and choose Service Passport.
- 2Select Add service record, or Add to Service Passport from an eligible completed review.
- 3Enter the service date, mileage, shop, completed services, cost, and notes.
- 4Attach a receipt or final invoice when available, then save.
- 5Open an entry later to review its details and attachments.
Good to know
- Keep estimates separate until the listed work is completed.
- You can save a record without an attachment.
Sharing vehicle history with a buyerCreate a view-only link containing only the history you select.
- 1Open the vehicle and choose Create buyer-ready report.
- 2Choose the records the buyer may see.
- 3Share, exclude, or provide a redacted copy of each attachment.
- 4Review the privacy warning and create the link.
- 5Copy the link to the buyer; disable it from My Garage when no longer needed.
Good to know
- Check attachments for names, addresses, phone numbers, or payment information.
- Current buyer links expire after 60 days.
Transferring vehicle history to a buyerGive the buyer a separate copy of approved history in their own MechSure account.
- 1Choose Transfer vehicle history and enter the buyer’s email—not your own.
- 2Select the records and attachment treatment.
- 3Enter the verification code sent to your email.
- 4The buyer signs in using the email that received the invitation.
- 5The buyer reviews and accepts; only approved history is copied.
Good to know
- A transfer never gives the buyer access to your account.
- A pending invitation can be disabled before acceptance.

- 2Check whether it is submitted, waiting for information, in progress, or completed.

- 2Request cancellation as soon as possible and include the review or order number.
- 3Cancellation may be available before substantive review work begins.
- 4After work begins or a report is delivered, charges are generally nonrefundable except where required by law or when MechSure fails to provide the service.
- 5If a paid Rush commitment is missed, the Rush fee is refunded under the Terms; the review fee follows the normal policy.
